“Paint Me Like a French Girl” is the debut single from South African electronic music producer, sound engineer and musician BreakDLaw (David Law). In an interview he said that “Sound is my life and it’s in my blood”. The track charted #1 on several South African charts and features the amazing and very sexy Glitchfox (Roxy Nel) on vocals.
The story behind the track is pretty interesting. David produced the song and gave it a first title. One day, while driving his car with Roxy sat on his side, they simply turn up the volume and started “car writing”. At some point Dave came up with the melody and phrase “Paint Me Like A French Girl”, a phrase he used to shout out to his mates at his All-Boy Catholic school (it sounds strange, uh?). And that’s where to story began…
The track is full of rhythmic and strong vocals, the lyrics are sensual and alluring. Just close your eyes and imagine yourself with a brush in your hand and a couple of paint cans… Baby I’m your canvas. You can hang me in the Louvre. Make me grin like Mona Lisa… I’m gonna get you in the mood… #paintme
