The body cannot heal when it cannot move oppressive and violent colonial concepts out of its organism. This oppression often drives queer activism into a place of prioritizing survival and destruction, rather than rebuilding and reclaiming.
The trauma story must be told, but when it remains the only story we know how to tell, we continue to exist for our oppressors’ attention, and never in revolution. BODY RIOT is a call to action to reclaim the history we carry, in order to embody a future we hope for, desires we long to access.
