In real life I am actually quite shy. People who see me on social media don’t believe that but those who know me for real know what’s up. This is one of the reasons why I got in to pole dance. To be able to step out of my shell and my shyness. I am always holding back. I always have negative voices in my head telling me what I’m doing wrong or that I look corny.
Being a dancer you make your entire being vulnerable and open to scrunity on every level. Our bodies are our artistic tools. We can’t hide behind our insecurities.
#PoleDance is very a different style of dance then what I am used to. I also have serious issues around dancing in a way where I’m supposed to be sexy, although I LOVE to see other women do it.
But, life is too short and tomorrow is not promised. So why hold back? I am always a work in progress. Working on not being afraid to unleash more of myself. Because my body is my business and my temple and I am in complete control of her. I don’t take her for granted. Bodies die and get jacked up every day. I want to live every day to my fullest and increase my chi as I do so.
And truth be told, dancers have to do many takes before they get their performance perfect. This right here is simply a free style. So there are moments where I messed up and I see many things I could have done better. I am not comfortable with my body on the floor yet, and what it looks like as I move certain ways. This was just a free style practice session. I’m figuring it all out and sharing a glimpse with the world. So please don’t judge too hard. 😊😊
