Beethoven’s emblematic 9th Symphony, Dance Version, performed by La Infinita Compañía in the Main Hall of the ‘Palacio de Bellas Artes de CDMX’ (Mexico City’s Palace of Fine Arts).

Celebrating 200 years of creation of one of the most important symphonic works of humanity, more than 20 artists gather on stage to create a monumental experience for brotherhood and hope in the work “Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Dance Version”.

Under the direction of #RaúlTamez, the Infinita Compañía and a cast of extraordinary performing artists, performed this monumental work at the Palace of Fine Arts on August 3, 2024.

Background

Raúl Tamez (@raulramezdanza) heard Beethoven’s 9th Symphony for the first time when he was eight years old and remembers it as something dazzling.

Because, as a child, Raúl felt that the symphony spoke directly to him, but he did not understand the message very well.

More than two decades would have to pass away for the young man to feel mature enough to express what the work suggested to him, and with the necessary skill to translate it into his natural language: dance.

In addition to being a choreographer of the INBAL National School of Classical and Contemporary Dance and the Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands, Raúl Tamez is a sociologist who graduated from UNAM.

The Infinita Compañía was established in June 2008, under the direction of Rodrigo González and Raúl Tamez, and to date has been nourished by numerous productions in the performing arts, the design of international artistic projects and actions of cultural and social entrepreneurship.

All this, with the conviction that culture and the arts are of central importance in social development, the enrichment of the lives of human beings and in raising awareness to improve humanity’s relationship with the planet.
