Sometimes its good to leave all the lighting equipment at home and just use the existing light as it appears in nature. It will give you an all natural look to your shots that you won’t be able to get in the studio.

Obviously, when you walk into the open, the season, the weather conditions, the location and the time of day become very important factors, and it’s essential that you keep these matters in mind when you’re planning your shooting.

In THIS SPECIAL OUTDOOR TUTORIAL, master photographer PETTER HEGRE invites you to follow him and his model Anna on a successful nude photo session in a romantic pine wood in the north of Spain. The day is mostly overcast, which promises a soft and flattering light, Still, the many nuances in colour and glow in the forest will spill over the nude model and create subtle variations on her skin and body. Giving your model a genuine “forest-look”.

As you can’t move lighting equipment around, you will need to be able to read the natural light as it is, and how its expected to change in course of the session. Try different poses, different turns and angles, and you’ll be surprised to see how many variations you will discover deep in the middle of a dense overgrown forest!
