Maureen Fleming’s B. MADONNA features text by David Henry Hwang and music by
Philip Glass (performed live by pianist Bruce Brubaker), original accordion music by
Guy Klucevsek, and Taiko drumming by Kaoru Watanabe. This beautiful, multimedia meditation on ‘miracles’ juxtaposes Fleming’s new and repertory works with three-dimensional video projections designed by longtime collaborator Christopher Odo.

This excerpt was the final work of ‘B Madonna’ in which Persephone is reunited with Demeter, the goddess of birth. This video recording is from a live performance during the three week run at La MaMa. Maureen Fleming performs her original choreography with pianist Bruce Brubaker with light and visual design by Christopher Odo. This interdisciplinary work premiered at the Ellen Stewart Theater at La MaMa in NYC from October 17 – November 3, 2013 and was followed by a national and international tour.

The visual design involves three projection screens, giving the projected image a three-dimensional quality. The projection screens travel with the ‘B Madonna’ production and are created so it is possible for them to be adapted for each venue.
