On this episode we focus ITLAWANA(teenage girl). We unpack the stage of growth and the appropriate traditional attire that Itlawana is suppose to wear and the significant pieces that she is not allowed to wear until specific traditional exercises are completed in order for her to truly understand what certain attires mean and most importantly nature will determine her readiness for the next stage before the processes commence.

I’m currently wearing a Ndebele pre-teens attire, pre-teens stage ascends one to a more private garment.
A pre-teens wear has fewer added pieces for privacy purposes as she experience a transition to puberty stage, she wears umadalanyana a beaded towel, formerly they used jeans and animals skin, wearing waist beaded hoop iJuba nobukhobe, imidzegana made of iJuba nobukhobe as well, bangles and amagadasi for decoration which are mostly worn by pre-teens while young maidens wear hand beaded hoop.
However, presently they’re used for decorating, then there is iraso, ifengwana and ibherebhere which signifies discipline, here’s umkhala I was referring to.
This attire is worn by pre-teens.
There’s no specific turnaround time for this attire as women’s growth rely on nature and body. This attire is worn after puberty in preparation for initiation school. That’s a pre-teen. Ready to be a teenager one can say!
