I Love the Smell of My Pussy is Krista Papista’s new feminist Sordid Pop anthem, taken from her recent anti-nationalist album Sultana.
In collaboration with intrepid performance artist Florentina Holzinger Berlin-based filmmakers Ouroboros – the music video was shot
on the set of Holzinger’s show Apollon with her all-naked female
cast including Florentina herself, integrating Krista centre-stage in Apollon’s iconic visual landscapes, styled by Spyros Droussiotis.
I Love the Smell of My Pussy is a celebration of both artists Florentina
and Krista; a homage to Holzinger’s piece Apollon, and the dialogue it
has with Papista as a performer and narrator of the song. Papista shares a nostalgic tale of her adolescent queer sexual fantasies, confessing she only hung out with her friend because of a crush for her mother, idealising womanhood via a daughter’s romantic gaze.
When we got real tight; baby I was in love with your mother.
Through the lens of her youth, Papista’s reflective queer-girl diary expresses an awakening dissatisfaction growing up and navigating her place in a hetero-patriarchal and post-colonial society, with a keen interest in the sensual and sexual changes she is experiencing.

The video features Krista Papista in artistic frames with a topless woman in an open white shirt against swirling skies. She later appears with a green electric guitar in a black slip dress and boots. It culminates in three nude figures raising their arms in a dramatic, ritualistic pose.
