The nude female has been a recurring theme in fine art nude and photography for thousands of years. In Western art traditions, femininity has been closely linked with ideals of beauty. And the power of life itself.

The female form, in particular, is associated with softness, curvature, and visual rhythm – qualities that lend themselves strongly to composition. The female presence has also been a well known symbol for fertility, nature and earth, as well as love and desire.
