Hysterical Literature is a video art series by NYC-based photographer and filmmaker Clayton Cubitt. It explores feminism, mind/body dualism, distraction portraiture, and the contrast between culture and sexuality. (It’s also just really fun to watch.)

The video shows a woman with long dark hair at a plain table, initially focused on a tablet before her expressions shift toward visible pleasure. She touches her face, sets the tablet down, and closes her eyes as the scene progresses in a stark black-and-white setting. The performance emphasizes the contrast between her composed posture and the building physical response.
