“NUDE” at Fotografiska Stockholm brings together 30 women photographers from around the world who portray the naked body through their own eyes and experiences. The exhibition challenges the traditional male gaze and questions how bodies are idealized, objectified, and censored in art and media. With over 200 works in photography, film, and installation, it explores beauty, vulnerability, power, identity, and sexuality in intimate and sometimes provocative ways. Visitors are invited to rethink what it means to look at – and to be – a naked body today.
The NUDE exhibition at Fotografiska Stockholm ran from 2 September 2021 to 27 November 2021.
This video captures a tableau vivant at Fotografiska Stockholm with around 15-20 nude women of diverse backgrounds, including Caucasian, Black, and Asian descent. They pose dynamically with coiled ropes in a minimalist gallery space, some standing tall or seated, wearing only black boots or heels. A central white fabric mound and wooden poles frame the composition under dramatic lighting. The serious expressions and arrangement suggest a feminist statement on body positivity and challenging objectification.
