Muybridge’s Victorian Ladies, Volume 1.

Original was uploaded on 2015-10-30

I made this film using the photographs of Eadweard Muybridge’s Animal Locomotion study.

All these photos were taken by Muybridge and his team at the University of Pennsylvania between June and October 1885.

I found many of these photos at various sites on the WEB and using Windows Movie Maker turned them into what you’re about to watch.

Note: Millennials, the dark material covering the extremely naughty bit of the ladies was called “Pubic Hair”.

This video compiles black-and-white frames from Eadweard Muybridge's chronophotography series on Victorian ladies. It captures nude women in everyday motions like walking, stretching, and washing hair. Rear and frontal views highlight natural human anatomy in motion studies labeled with plate numbers. The sequences emulate an old film aesthetic through sequential stills.
