National Police arrested several Femen activists on Sunday after they broke into a demo organised to honour Spain’s former dictator, Franco, in Madrid’s Plaza de Oriente.
The activists could be seen being restrained by police, who covered their topless torsos, which had anti-fascist slogans written across their bodies. The women were detained whilst chanting, “Legal fascism, national pandemic.”
Those attending the pro-Franco rally, called by the Spanish Catholic Movement to commemorate the anniversary of Francisco Franco, carried pre-constitutional and Falangism flags, and were also filmed performing the fascist salute.
